Why does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works by harnessing the power of focused attention and suggestion to rewire negative thought patterns, helping individuals access their subconscious mind and create lasting behavioral change. When combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Hypno-CBT targets both cognitive distortions and emotional triggers, offering a scientifically supported, integrative approach to overcoming challenges.


Will I experience difficult emotions or uncomfortable feelings during the Hypnotherapy Session?

During my session, you are unlikely to experience overwhelming or difficult emotions. It is designed to create a safe, comfortable environment where any emotions that arise are manageable and part of the therapeutic process. The goal is to reframe negative thought patterns in a gentle, evidence-based manner without re-traumatizing you.


What does the session process look like?

The process begins with a thorough discussion to understand your goals, challenges, and current thought patterns. I guide you then into a relaxed, focused state using hypnosis techniques that are gentle and non-invasive. This state allows your mind to become more receptive to positive suggestions and cognitive reframing.

The core of the session involves using cognitive-behavioral strategies, such as identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, while reinforcing healthier habits and coping mechanisms. The hypnosis aspect enhances the effectiveness of these strategies by helping you access the subconscious mind, where many of these patterns reside.


Is Hypnosis safe? Will I be able to remember what happens during the session?

Throughout the session, you remain in control and aware, and the process is tailored to your individual needs. The combination of hypnosis and CBT is designed to promote lasting transformation without the need to relive painful emotions or memories, aligning with the latest scientific understanding of how the mind works (e.g., Barabasz & Barabasz, 2012).

By the end of the session, you will likely feel refreshed and clear, with a greater sense of clarity and confidence to move forward. Research supports that this integrative approach helps to improve emotional regulation, reduce stress, and foster long-term positive change (Hawkins et al., 2019).


Is online as good as face-to-face?

Online sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions. Hypnotherapy requires you to participate actively. This is why the success of your session does not depend on whether I am physically present in the room. However, I will guide you at all times and ensure that you are having a comfortable experience.


Can anyone be hypnotized?

Most people can be hypnotized, but the level of suggestibility varies from person to person. A willingness to engage in the process can enhance your ability to enter a hypnotic state. The importance of therapeutic collaboration, including acknowledgment, acceptance, openness, trust, responsiveness, mutual respect, a shared effort, feedback, and more, cannot be missed.


How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and the issue being addressed. Some people experience significant improvement after just one session, while others may require up to twelve sessions for more complex and lasting change.


How Can I Prepare for a Session?

Wear comfortable clothing. Ensure you are well-rested, and well-nourished. Have a clear intention or goal for the session. Be open-minded and willing to engage in the process. Find a comfortable place where nobody can disturb you for 3 hours. Sit on a chair or sofa. Prepare your headset, fix the camera so I can see you, and charge your devices for a video call.

Hypno-CBT can help with stress, anxiety, chronic pain, sleep disorders, cravings, phobias, low self-esteem, depression, weight management, performance issues, and relationship challenges.


What are some common misconceptions about hypnotherapy?

Misconception: Hypnotherapy provides instant or magical results.

Reality: While Hypno-CBT can bring quick results, it is not a magic fix. It requires your active involvement and commitment for lasting change.

Misconception: Hypnotherapy can make me do things I don't want to do.

Reality: Hypno-CBT works within your values and goals. You remain fully in control and can accept or reject any suggestions made.

Misconception: You can get stuck in hypnosis.

Reality: It is impossible to get stuck in hypnosis. You can come out of the hypnotic state at any time.

Misconception: Hypnosis is a form of sleep.

Reality: Hypnosis is a state of focused relaxation, not sleep. You remain aware and in control during the process.
